100 Days of Teaching

In 100 days, I have

never thought of giving up

change inflaming mountain climb

meet angel gramma grave stone

morning

sweeping dead leaves

heard

"come visit" turn

"come stay" turn

"come home"

felt

claimed by strangers

passed by family

used.

loved by family

loved by family

blessed

kept

kissed

bruised

skipped over

favored.

wrestled

with dreams of giving up/

imagining regret under coats of chocolate/

bitter taste might be worth the shame/

when rest is found in running away/

thereʻs too much to change in too little anything

Watched

young eyes form tear swell with every

mispronounced word/

announcing past failed teaching passing grade/

parents allowing present absences/

shortening future trails of child prodigies/

I questioned,

given vision for progression.

pure intention.

direction.

in 100 days, I have

become part of the change

the old lady prayed for.
